About

This site was set up after I developed I love for Puglia. My Grandfather was born in Puglia and owned Italian restaurants in Newcastle Upon Tyne but sadly in 2004 my Grandfather died and at the age of 16 I travelled to Puglia to his house to see what it was all about. I went to visit the house two or three times between 2004 and 2017 and house stood derelict until 2016 whilst being owned by myself and another family member. I wanted to keep the house as it held a lot of sentimental value as my grandfather built it and my Dad visited the house in his teens and early twenties and for this reason in 2016 at the crazy age of 27 I purchased the other half of the land and the villa and started to renovate the house and I managed to spend more than three times what I anticipated it would cost. Whilst the house is still ‘a working progress’, there have been huge changes and it is now possible to sleep there very comfortably as you will be able to see from the before and after pictures below.

The people I have met whilst being in Puglia have been outstanding, they have helped in anyway possible and have gone over and above to help me find anything I have needed from alarm systems, plumbers, electricians, and more and more importantly they have welcomed me into their community.

Over the course of the next 5 years the house will be updated with mod-cons and other aspects and possibly even a swimming pool but for now it is a great retreat to escape to and relax.

If anyone is undertaking similar projects in the region I would be very keen to know about them and whilst my Italian is not great I would be more than happy to help if I can. I was very lucky as the tradesmen which we used were trustworthy and great value for money.
